Emerging Glass: A National Juried Glass Exhibit

Emerging Glass is a national juried exhibition honoring the 50th Anniversary of the Glass program at Kent State University School of Art. The exhibition will be on view in The Payto Gallery at the Center for the Visual Arts, Kent State University, from September 4 – October 4, 2019.

Eligibility: Any current resident of the United States who is over 18 years old may submit work(s) for consideration. Works must be primarily glass, original, and no older than 4 years with a completion date on or after October 2015. Works must be the result of independent effort unless collaborators are listed. Each artist may submit one to three original works. The entry fee is $20. Submissions are accepted in digital format only, with a maximum of three JPG images per work (5MB file size maximum). A full, overall image showing the entire work is required.

Artworks will be selected based on originality and innovation, design, technique, and craftsmanship through a blind jury process. Jurors are Davin Ebanks, Assistant Professor and Head of Glass at Kent State University, and Lisa Demagall, a noted Pittsburgh-based glass artist. All artists will be notified by email on or by August 5, 2019. The School of Art Collection & Galleries will retain a 30% commission on work sold during the exhibition. Awards totaling $500 will be given: Best of Show ($400) and Best Innovative Use of Material ($100). Shipping works to and from the exhibition is the artist's responsibility. Artists retain all copyrights to their work.
