About This Call
The Art Student Union at Georgia State University presents EMERGE, the fourth annual intercollegiate, juried exhibition organized by students for students. This multimedia exhibition showcases works by current undergraduate and graduate students from eight Atlanta-area colleges and universities: Georgia State University, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Kennesaw State University, Agnes Scott, the University of West Georgia, and the University of Georgia. The juror is Anne Weems, GSU art history alumna and gallery manager at Hathaway Gallery.
Eligible participants are limited to current undergraduate and graduate students from the participating institutions. All work must be original, and all media will be considered including two or three-dimensional works, video, audio, installation, and performance. Each artist may submit up to three individual works for consideration with a total of three media attachments. For audio and video entries, include a link to the piece online rather than a file. Images must be submitted in JPEG format and labeled with the artist's last name followed by the entry number (e.g., jones1.jpg). Detail images must include the word DETAIL in the file name. Images should not contain borders or text that is not part of the original work. The entry fee is $5.00.
Accepted work must arrive ready to install. All works on paper require framing with wired hanging hardware. Canvases must have hanging hardware already installed on the back, and sculptures/installations must arrive with necessary installation hardware and instructions. Work that arrives not ready to hang or in an unprofessional state may be rejected. Applicants will be notified of acceptance on April 4th and must deliver accepted work April 9-10 from 12-3pm. The exhibition will be on view at the Abrams Creative Space from April 12-19 with an opening reception on April 12 at 6-8pm. Best in Show and placement prizes will be announced on opening night, provided by Blick Art Supplies.
