Emerge 2014

Emerge 2014 is the eighth juried kiln-glass exhibition for emerging and intermediate-level artists, hosted by Bullseye Glass Company at Bullseye Gallery in Portland, Oregon. The exhibition runs from April 8 through June 28, 2014, and recognizes students and early-career artists working with kilnformed studio glass who are not yet represented by major commercial galleries.

The competition is open to emerging artists working with Bullseye glass in kilnforming or kilncasting methods (jewelry may also include torchworking). Entrants must be in the early to intermediate stage of their career and not represented by a commercial gallery at major international art or design fairs. Bullseye employees and artists represented by Bullseye Gallery are not eligible. All glass used must be Bullseye glass, and artwork must have been created since January 1, 2012. Works must not exceed 50 pounds and must be available for exhibition in Portland from February through August 2014.

The entry fee is $35.00 (30% student discount available). Applicants may submit up to 6 images representing 1 to 6 separate works, along with a biographical profile and artist statement (500 characters or less each). Emerge 2014 offers over $6,000 in prizes including Gold ($1,000), Silver ($750), and Bronze ($500) awards in Bullseye gift cards, plus specialized awards for Academic, Kilncasting, Jewelry, Design, and Newcomer categories. Finalists will be featured in a full-color exhibition catalog. Jurors are Kathleen Moles, Emily Nachison, and James Yood.
