Emerge 2012

Emerge 2012 is a juried kiln-glass exhibition for emerging and intermediate-level artists, running April 4 through June 23, 2012, at Bullseye Gallery in Portland, Oregon. Sponsored by Bullseye Glass Company, this biennial exhibition recognizes students and early-career artists working with kilnformed studio glass who are not yet represented by major commercial galleries.

The competition is open to emerging artists working with Bullseye glass in kilnforming or kilncasting methods (jewelry may also use torchworking). Entrants must be in the early to intermediate stage of their career and not represented by a commercial gallery at major international art or design fairs. Bullseye employees and artists represented by Bullseye Gallery are not eligible. All glass used must be Bullseye glass, works must be at least 50% glass and predominantly kilnformed or kilncast, created since January 1, 2010, and weigh no more than 50 pounds. Works must be available for exhibition in Portland from February through August 2012.

The entry fee is $35.00 (30% student discount available). Applicants may submit up to 6 images representing 1 to 6 works, along with a biographical profile and artist statement (500 characters each). Emerge 2012 offers over $6,000 in prizes including Gold ($1,000), Silver ($750), and Bronze ($500) awards, plus Academic Awards, Kilncasting Award, Jewelry Award, Design Award, and Newcomer Award (all $500 gift cards or scholarships). Finalists will be featured in a full-color exhibition catalog. The opening night reception and awards event is April 7, 2012.
