About This Call

Embrace is a national juried exhibition presented by 4th Street Fine Art, a cooperative gallery in the San Francisco Bay Area. The call invites artists to submit artwork interpreting the theme of embrace—whether physical like a hug or conceptual like embracing an idea. Open to all artists age 18 and over, regardless of gender. All styles and representational or abstract work in wall-hanging media are welcome, including painting, drawing, fiber, relief, glass, and photography. Video, film, and installations are not accepted.

Artists may submit up to 10 original works not previously shown in a 4th Street Fine Art juried exhibition. Work must be submitted digitally via the CaFE application by November 30, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time. Entry fee is $35 for the first image and $7 for each additional image. Artwork specifications: maximum 24" x 30" by 10" deep, weight limit 20 lbs, must be wired and ready to hang. No more than 2 works by any one artist will be included in the final selection. Notification of acceptance will be by email on December 21, 2021.

The exhibition will be presented in two forms: a physical show at the 4th Street Fine Art gallery and an online presentation in the FSFA Virtual Gallery. The physical gallery exhibit runs January 14 through February 27, 2022, with a reception on February 12, 2022. The online exhibit runs the same dates. Jurors include Gera Hasse (Founder of 4th Street Fine Art), Meredith A. Brown, PhD (Director of Museum Affairs and Chief Curator at Planting Fields Foundation), and Edward Montgomery (owner, Edward Montgomery Gallery).
