Ellarslie Open 39

Ellarslie Open 39 is a premier juried exhibition presented by Trenton City Museum. The exhibition will be on view and online from June 25 to October 2, 2022. Awards and prizes are offered in 10 categories, with a $1,000 prize for Best in Show.

The call is open to all artists eighteen and older. All media may be entered, with the exception of video/film. Work must have been created in the last three years and not previously exhibited at the Trenton City Museum. Hanging work must be properly and securely framed, professionally presented, wired and ready to hang with no sawtooth hangers accepted. Work on paper must be under glass or Plexiglas. Heavy sculpture must be on a dolly to facilitate movability. Three-dimensional work must be movable by two people; artists may be asked to supply a suitable base. No dimension of any piece may exceed 72 inches. Multi-panel diptychs or triptychs will be judged as one piece. The Museum reserves the right to exclude an entry for any reason including work that is inadequately matted or framed, is fragile, or imposes special handling.

Artists may submit up to six pieces total, with a limit of two pieces per category. The first entry fee is $30 for non-members or $25 for Trenton Museum Society members (with promo code). Additional entries are $20 each. Submission deadline is May 12, 2022. Artists will receive email notification on May 27 for artwork invited to the final round, which takes place in person at Trenton City Museum on June 5 and 6 from 10 am to 3 pm. Selected artists will be posted on June 10. The opening reception is June 25 with a VIP reception from 1-5 pm and awards announced at 4 pm. A public reception follows on June 26 from 1-4 pm. Artwork pickup begins October 2 from 4-6 pm and continues through October 9 with times to be announced. Artwork not picked up by the final date will be subject to a $5 per day fine.
