About This Call
National Juried Competition and Exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences, Long Beach Island, New Jersey. This exhibition welcomes entries of original work created within the last two years that explore the enduring effects of water, wind, earth, and fire. Works must manifest and explore the influence of these forces through actual processes such as charring, saturating, melting, freezing, rusting, eroding, floating, erupting, dissolving, sprouting, combusting, fermenting, evaporating, condensing, or other processes that account for the dynamics of our planetary home. Artworks that manifest intersections of art with science and design are encouraged. Unconventional mediums are welcome, provided they contain no hazardous flammable or toxic materials. Artists must fully disclose all materials and processes used to create the work.
The Juror will select approximately 40 artworks. Artists may submit both 2D work for wall display and/or 3D work for display on the Foundation's grounds. Two-dimensional works must not exceed 36 x 36 inches unless agreed upon by LBIF. Three-dimensional work larger than 24" x 24" will be installed outdoors by the artist. The outdoor space is unsecured and artwork will not be insured by LBIF. Artists are responsible for delivering and reclaiming their artwork at the end of the exhibition. Artwork remaining on campus for more than five days after the exhibition closes will become property of LBIF unless a special arrangement has been made.
Eligibility: Artists 18 years and older residing in continental USA. Work must have been created within the last two years and not previously shown at LBIF. Entry fee: $35.00 for up to 3 entries (non-refundable). Submissions must include 1-3 images (JPEG or JPG, 1200 pixels or greater on longest side, under 5 MB). All work must be for sale with retail value not exceeding $7,500. Exhibition dates: June 11 - July 4, 2022. Awards: $500 first prize, $100 second prize, $100 third prize, and three honorable mentions. The Juror is Linda Weintraub, curator, author, educator, and critic. LBIF will retain a 40% commission on all works sold during the exhibition.
