Elemental: Artist Alliance at Sparks Gallery

This is a call for OMA Artist Alliance members to submit entries for Elemental: Artist Alliance at Sparks Gallery, an exhibition at Sparks Gallery in downtown San Diego. Artwork will be juried and the exhibition layout designed by Sonya Sparks, gallery owner and curator.

The exhibition is not strictly themed, but artists are encouraged to submit abstract or figurative work exploring the vibrancy and vitality of the core elements—earth, air, fire, and water—that shape the world around us. The elemental theme highlights how these fundamental components permeate daily existence, inspire creativity, and foster growth, yet also have the capacity for destruction and transformation. The juror will select work that creates the strongest exhibition when considering all submitted works in context, and may not necessarily select work based on adherence to the exhibition title. A maximum of two artworks per artist will be selected.

Entry fee is $20 for the first submission and $10 for each additional submission. Scholarships are available; contact [email protected] for consideration. All submissions must be original works of art. No giclees or reproductions are accepted, except limited edition prints in traditional printmaking media, limited edition digital art prints, and photography. Artwork depicting nudity will not be included. 2D artwork maximum dimensions are 60" high x 60" wide. 3D artwork must fit through a double-door entrance (90" H x 69" wide). Works on paper must be framed with simple, neutral frames. Frames must have cables and/or D rings for hanging. Artwork drop-off is April 17–21, 2025, 11:00am–3:00pm. Artwork under 60" may be shipped to arrive before April 16, 2025. The exhibition runs May 2–July 6, 2025, with a public reception on Saturday, May 25, 5:00–7:00pm. Artwork pickup is July 10–12, 2025, 11:00am–3:00pm. Artists must be current OMA members with the Artist Alliance affiliate membership add-on to be eligible.
