Elegant Threads: Wearable Art and Surface Design

Elegant Threads: Wearable Art and Surface Design invites artists to submit wearable art, fashion, textiles, accessories, jewelry, and surface design work for exhibition at the Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta, Florida (Palm Beach County). The exhibition runs October 18–November 21, 2018, with an Artist Reception and Award Ceremony on October 18, a ticketed Runway Show on November 1, and a textile artist technique demonstration on November 15.

Wearable Art includes individually designed, handmade clothing, accessories, and jewelry such as dresses, jackets, bags, footwear, and headwear. Surface Design includes wall hangings, throws, pillows, art quilts, and tapestries using unique surface design techniques. Artists may submit up to three works in each category. Work must meet specific size restrictions: 3D art no more than 5 feet high, 3 feet wide/deep, and 35 lbs; wall pieces no larger than 60" x 60" with depth no more than 6" including frame. All work must arrive ready to install with proper hanging mechanisms or bases.

The entry fee is $35.00 for up to three entries per category. Submissions consist of three digital images per work (front, back, detail) in JPEG format, 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB. Artists receive 60% of sales with a 40% commission to the Lighthouse ArtCenter. All accepted work must remain on display through the duration of the exhibition. Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance. Accepted artists will be notified August 10, 2018, and artwork must arrive by October 8, 2018. The application deadline is August 1, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
