Edwina and Charles Milner Women in the Arts Lecture and Exhibition Series

Western New Mexico University Expressive Arts Department and Francis McCray Gallery invites established and emerging women artists from New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, and Colorado to apply for the Women in the Arts exhibition, scheduled for Fall 2025 and Fall 2026. This exhibition celebrates the voices, perspectives, and creative expressions of women in the arts, with a focus on fostering inclusivity and representation. The gallery strongly encourages applications from artists who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), LGBTQ+, and members of other underrepresented communities.

As a research and teaching gallery, the Francis McCray Gallery is committed to engaging the community in critical dialogue through art. This exhibition offers an opportunity for artists to showcase their work in a space dedicated to education, exploration, and the advancement of contemporary art.

Eligibility is open to established and emerging women artists residing in New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, and Colorado. All media is welcome, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, textiles, mixed media, and more. The gallery welcomes both traditional and experimental works, including interdisciplinary and unconventional approaches to artmaking. Exhibition proposals may consist of solo, two-person, and group exhibitions. Applicants must submit 8 images of work, an artist statement, artist biography, and artist CV. The submission fee is $25.00. Entry deadline is April 13, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
