About This Call
The Edwards Place Fine Art Fair invites artists working in a broad range of fine art and craft media to apply. Media categories include 2D (painting in watercolor, oil, acrylic, drawing, pastel, printmaking, collage, calligraphy, mixed media, and paper arts); Ceramic (functional, sculptural, hand built, thrown); Fiber (wearable, decorative); Glass (blown, fused, slumped, cast); Jewelry (precious metal, gems, beaded, other); Photography (film, digital, alternative); and Other (book arts, basketry, metal, leather, wood, other). First Place and Honorable Mention awards are given in each media category plus Best of Show and Best Newcomer. All award winners from the 2024 fair receive a coupon code that waives the jury fee.
The fair is held the third full weekend in September on the campus of the Springfield Art Association, featuring up to 80 artist booths, interactive art activities for all ages, artist demonstrations, live and DJ music, food vendors, tours of Edwards Place historic house museum, and a used book sale. Hours are 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and 11 AM to 4 PM on Sunday. A reception for artists and awards ceremony is held Saturday evening from 5:30 to 7 PM. The Springfield Art Association provides complimentary artist breakfast and lunch on Saturday and lunch on Sunday, plus overnight security Friday and Saturday nights. Booth sitters are provided throughout the fair.
Artists must be 18 years or older and present for the duration of the fair. Artwork must be original with a majority portion designed and executed by the artist. Kits, commercially manufactured jewelry, commercial molds, and commercially cast products are not eligible. Artists furnish their own tents, displays, and equipment. Electricity is not available; limited water is available on a first request basis. Generators are not permitted. Registration and booth setup begins Friday at 1 PM, with setup continuing after 7 PM Friday and before 7 AM Saturday. Booth options: Single Booth (11' x 12') $250, End/Corner Booth (11' x 12') $300, Double Booth (22' x 12') $450. Local Peddler's License is included in booth fees. Contracts with booth payments are accepted through June 1. This is an outdoor event; artists are responsible for their own insurance and protection of work and setup.
