About This Call
Ashton Gallery @ Art on 30th, a contemporary art gallery in San Diego, CA, invites local and national artists to submit original works for the 2016 Edgar Allan Poe Show. Eligible art may include Poe's image, poetry, short stories, ravens, and all things Poe-inspired. Art will be selected by juror Chris Semtner, curator of the Richmond, Virginia Edgar Allan Poe Museum.
Accepted categories include painting, drawing, photography, assemblage, collage, encaustic, mixed media, fiber art, and 3D art that fits on an 18" x 18" pedestal. The show does not accept jewelry, video, film, performance art, or installations. Submissions must be original work and all entries must be for sale. Ashton Gallery retains 50% commission on sales. Artwork must remain in the show until closing. Selected works will be published in the Ashton Gallery Full Color Exhibition Catalogue and represented in an online gallery at the Edgar Allan Poe Museum website (poemuseum.org).
Three awards will be given: Best in Show (cover of catalogue), First Place (double page spread), and Jurors Choice (double page spread), plus two honorable mentions (double page each). Entry fee is $35 for the first two entries and $5 for each additional image (up to 6 total). Deadline for submission is August 13, 2016. Notification of acceptance will be made by email by September 6, 2016. Exhibition dates are October 22 - November 21, 2016, with opening reception on October 22, 6 pm - 8 pm. All artwork must be identified on the back with artist name, title, media, dimensions, and price.
