About This Call
ecoartspace's inaugural online juried show focuses on the theme of "eco consciousness," defined as showing concern for the environment. The show particularly encourages work that is sensitive to the spiritual and feminist aspects of our human relationship with nature. Approximately 100 works will be selected for exhibition. The exhibition will be presented as a digital catalogue (PDF) with an introduction by ecoartspace curators Patricia Watts and Amy Lipton. Artworks selected will be featured online beginning September 1 and will be promoted in the monthly e-Newsletter and social media channels.
The show will be blind juried by Eleanor Heartney, a distinguished New York art critic and author who has written extensively on contemporary art and ecological artists for publications including Art in America, Artews, the Washington Post, and the New York Times. Three billboard awards will be given to artists whose work will be presented in the Midwest for three months (September/October/November) leading up to the General Election on November 3. Selected billboard artists will be notified no later than June 15, 2020. Audio works are not eligible for billboard consideration.
Open to ecoartspace members at the artist and art professional levels. International artists are welcome. Applicants must be 18 years or older and have paid 2020 membership dues by May 31. All media is accepted if suitable for an online experience. Work must be original and completed within the last three years. Maximum of 3 entries per applicant, with a maximum of one artwork per accepted artist juried into the show. Applications accepted March 1 – May 31, 2020. Exhibition finalists will be announced by July 1, 2020. Entry fee: $35.00. Work samples: 1-3 total (images, audio, or video files). Images must be high resolution (300 ppi), at least 800 pixels on shortest side and 1920 pixels on longest side, no larger than 5MB, in JPEG format. Audio files accepted: AIFF, WAV, XMF, MPA (no larger than 10MB). Video files accepted: MOV, MP4, WMV, 3GP, AVI, ASF, MPG, M2T, MKV, M2TS (no larger than 100MB). Artists retain copyright to their images. All membership and jury fees are non-refundable.
