About This Call

Eccentric is a national exhibition featuring work from artists across the United States that are surreal in artistic theme and/or unconventional in material and medium. The exhibition is open to functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in all mediums, including mixed media collage, photo manipulation, found object assemblage, and work involving techniques outside traditional art mediums and standards. Work should exhibit significant unconventional materials and methods in process and medium, though traditional aspects may be included. Questions about eligibility should be directed to Amanda Bradley at [email protected].

The exhibition will be held at the d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia, located in the NEON district (Norfolk's Art District). The exhibition will be co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley and juror Alison Stinely, an Assistant Professor of Painting at Old Dominion University. Exhibition dates are April 7-30, 2020, with a reception on April 9, 2020 from 5:30-7:30pm. Artists will be notified by email by 5pm on March 23, 2020, and accepted works must arrive by April 2, 2020.

Eligibility is open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without instructor or kit assistance, and produced within the last five years. The entry fee is $35.00 for up to 3 artworks (one image per submission). Awards include 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($300), and 3rd Place ($150). Works cannot exceed 40 pounds or 48 inches in longest dimension. All 2D works must have hanging hardware; 3D works requiring special presentation must include displays. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and must provide pre-paid return labels via UPS or FedEx. Works must be shipped in reusable containers without packing peanuts. The d'Art Center is not responsible for damage during exhibition. Commission for sold works is 60% artist/40% gallery.
