Eastern Wyoming College Art in Public Buildings Indoor Artwork Call

Eastern Wyoming College is seeking artwork to adorn the new Career & Technical Education Center (CTEC), a 69,000 square foot facility located on West C Street at the primary entrance to the College. The building will house technical programs including Welding and Joining Technology, Cosmetology, Health Technology, and Community Connections, and will feature a southern-facing plaza entry area, distinctive lobby area, and medium-sized auditorium lecture room.

The selection committee is interested in both existing work and commissioned pieces. While the majority of work will likely hang on walls, there is also the option of 3D pieces and a piece hung in the atrium of the main lobby from the ceiling. Other options may include artwork integrated into the building, such as floor tiles or handrails. Artists offering commission pieces should be prepared to travel to the site and present to the committee if asked (travel funding is provided). Approximately $40,000 is available to purchase multiple pieces of artwork.

This is a regional call open to artists from North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, and Idaho. Submissions must include 1-6 images. Initial application materials are due October 30, 2015. The selection committee will review proposals in November 2015, and select artists will be asked to submit complete formal design presentations in December 2015 with modest financial compensation provided. Presentations will take place in Torrington, Wyoming. A decision will be made by January 2016. The committee will consider the quality of the artwork, how well it complements the purpose of the CTEC, affordability within the project budget, and safety, durability, and maintenance requirements.
