About This Call
Earth & Fire 2024 is a national clay exhibition open to visual artists 18 years and older residing and working in the US. Artists may submit up to 2 works completed within the last two calendar years that have not been previously exhibited at the Stifel Fine Arts Center. All works must be made of clay, be original work of the artist, and be available for sale. The Stifel Fine Arts Center will retain a 30% commission on sales, with West Virginia state sales tax applied.
The entry fee is $35.00 for up to 2 pieces. Artists must submit high-resolution images (300 dpi) with up to 3 views per piece for the jury process. The juror is Shoji Satake, J. Bernard Schultz Endowed Professor of Art and area head of ceramics at West Virginia University School of Art & Design. Awards include: 1st prize $4,000, 2nd prize $1,500, 3rd prize $1,000, and 2 merit awards of $250 each.
The exhibition runs February 23 – March 30, 2024, at the Stifel Fine Arts Center, 1330 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003. Hand-delivered drop-off and shipped works are accepted February 5-10, 2024. The opening reception is February 23, 2024. Juror notification will be emailed the week of January 22, 2024. Pick-up dates for unsold work are April 5-9. All entries must be completed online by 11:59 p.m. MST on January 12, 2024. Two-dimensional works or wall hangings must be securely wired for hanging with no sawtooth hangers.
