About This Call

Earth Devised is a juried exhibition of functional and non-functional ceramic art from across the United States, held at the d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia. The exhibition is juried by Richard Nickel and curated by d'Art staff. The d'Art Center is Norfolk's thirty-year-old art center located in the NEON district and includes working professional artist studios with exhibitions and programming open to the public.

This exhibition is open to artists 18 or older residing in the United States. All work must be original and created without the aid of an instructor or kit, produced within the last five years. All styles and aesthetics are considered. The submission fee is $35.00 for up to 3 artworks. Works cannot exceed 30 pounds or 48 inches in their longest dimension and must be equipped with hanging hardware for installation if needed. Any works requiring special installation must include clear instructions or be installed by the artist. The d'Art Center reserves the right to reject work that differs significantly from submitted images, is not presentation/gallery ready, or has craft issues.

Exhibition dates are May 11 - June 6, 2019, with a reception on May 16, 2019 from 5:30-7:30pm. Artists will be notified by email by 5pm on April 26, 2019. Accepted works must arrive by May 6, 2019. Awards include 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($300), and 3rd Place ($150). The artist/gallery commission split is 60% artist / 40% d'Art Center, not including awards. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and must provide pre-paid return labels through UPS or FedEx. The d'Art Center is not responsible for damage during exhibition and recommends artists insure their works.
