Eagle Pointe Recreation Center Interior Art Project

The City of Commerce City and the Commerce City Cultural Council seek to commission public art for the newly remodeled Eagle Pointe Recreation Center located at 6060 Parkway Dr, Commerce City, CO 80022. Qualifications are requested from Colorado artists and/or artist teams interested in creating site-specific public artwork(s) for the interior of this facility. The $10 million renovation project will feature a new indoor therapy pool, expanded fitness and aerobics area, new family locker room, and expanded men's and women's locker areas.

The Art Selection Committee recommends placement of a site-specific artwork for the interior reception area. The suspended artwork for the lobby area above the reception may be supplemented with additional artwork in the reception area, including art elements to be attached to the area under the running track and the wall behind reception. Exact locations will be finalized with the art committee and architects upon selection as a semi-finalist. The total project budget for interior artwork ranges from $70,000-75,000, inclusive of all costs including artist design fee, structural engineering, insurance, materials, fabrication, transportation, installation, site modifications, travel, per diem expenses, project documentation, and contingency.

Eligibility: All applicants must be legal residents of the United States and reside full-time in Colorado. Artists or artist teams must have skills and experience commensurate with successfully completing a public art installation. Applicants must submit six digital images of previously completed artworks, a current résumé, a statement of interest (250 words or less), and responses to eligibility questions through the CaFÉ online system. Semi-finalists will be paid a $1,000 honorarium for design and presentation of the proposal. Those residing outside a 100-mile radius of Commerce City will be offered up to $300 for travel reimbursement. Deadline for applications: January 8, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MST.
