About This Call
Three Rivers Park District is seeking proposals for a permanent park amenity installation at Eagle Lake Regional Park that supports community and gathering. One proposal will be selected and awarded a $10,000 honorarium. The installation will be located in a clearing on the Eagle Lake Regional Park peninsula off 63rd Ave N, Maple Grove, MN, north of the walking bridge.
Eligibility: Artists 18 years of age or older who primarily live or work in the Midwest are invited to submit proposals individually or collaboratively. The project should create a year-round installation that promotes park use as a gathering space and accommodates 1-10 people. Artwork may include freestanding sculpture and site-specific installations. Due to the permanent nature of this project, seasonal or ephemeral work will not be given priority. Materials must be appropriate to an outdoor environment and should not negatively impact natural habitat, wildlife, park guests, or the surrounding community. No electricity is available; work must exist completely off-grid. Work containing a fire pit, ring, or place will be disqualified.
Selection criteria include artistic merit, capability, budget, and impact. Priority will be given to new site-specific work, work reflecting the Park District's mission, work considering sustainable practices and materials, and work appealing to audiences of all backgrounds. The artist is responsible for all associated expenses related to design, fabrication, transportation, and installation. Work must be installed by spring 2017. Applicants will be notified of the final decision by May 20, 2016. An information session and site visit will be held April 14, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Eagle Lake Regional Park. Application materials due May 13, 2016 include resume (2 pages max), artist statement (2 pages max), proposal (1 page max), budget (1 page max), and 5-20 images in JPEG format at 72 ppi with maximum dimensions of 1920 pixels and 5MB per file.
