About This Call

e-merge 2010 is the sixth biennial, juried kiln-glass exhibition for emerging artists sponsored by Bullseye Glass Co. Hosted at Bullseye Gallery in Portland, Oregon, the exhibition runs from March 23 through June 19, 2010, and recognizes students and early-career artists working with kilnformed studio glass who are not yet represented by major galleries.

The competition is open to emerging artists working with Bullseye glass in kilnforming or kilncasting methods. Entrants must be in the early to intermediate stage of their career and their work must not have been featured at major international art or design fairs such as SOFA. All works must be made of at least 50% Bullseye glass, be predominantly kilnformed or kilncast, and have been created since January 1, 2008. Artwork must weigh no more than 50 pounds and be available for exhibition in Portland from February through July 2010. Bullseye employees, employee family members, contractors, and persons represented by Bullseye Gallery are not eligible.

The entry fee is $35.00 (with a 30% student discount available). Entrants may submit one to six pieces of work with six required images, a biographical profile (500 characters or less), and an artist statement (1000 characters or less). The application deadline is December 7, 2009 at 5pm PST. e-merge 2010 offers over $5,000 in prizes including Gold ($1,000 gift card), Silver ($750 gift card), and Bronze ($500 gift card) awards, plus Academic, Newcomer, Kilncaster, and Popular awards. Finalists will be represented in a full-color exhibition catalog with photos, bios, and artist statements. The opening reception and awards event is March 27, 2010 at 6:30-8:30pm at Bullseye Gallery.
