Dynamics of Color

Gallery 621, an artist-run contemporary fine art gallery in Benicia, California, invites artists to submit entries to a juried exhibition exploring the artist's relationship with color. The exhibition will run January 2 through February 1, 2026, with an artists' reception on January 10, 2026, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Chester Arnold, a painter and educator based in Sonoma County whose work is held in the San Jose Museum of Art, SFMOMA, and other institutions, will serve as juror.

The exhibition explores how color expresses mood and emotions, and demonstrates the impact of color choices on both the artist and viewer. All artwork must be original work completed between 2021 and 2025. Both 2D and 3D works are eligible, including painting, collage, mixed media, photography, textile arts, sculpture, and assemblage. 2D works are limited to 30" x 30"; 3D works are limited to a 30" footprint. All artwork must be hand-delivered; no shipped work is accepted. Artwork delivery is December 26-28, 2025, 12 pm–5 pm, and Monday, December 29, 10 am–12 pm. Artwork pickup is February 1, 2026, 5–6 pm and February 2, 2026, 10 am–5 pm.

Entry fee is $40 for the first image; additional images may be submitted for $5 each, up to 6 images total. All artwork must be for sale. If sold, Gallery 621 will mail 60% of the sale price to the artist within 30 days of the close of the exhibit. Gallery 621 has limited insurance and artists assume all liability for artwork during the show; artists should obtain their own insurance coverage. Entry deadline is November 15, 2025, at 10:59 pm. Artists will be notified of acceptance on December 1, 2025.
