DVAC CSA (Community Supported Art)

The Dayton Visual Arts Center (DVAC) invites artists to apply for the 2017 Community Supported Art (CSA) program. Three artists will be selected to receive a $1,500 commission to create an artwork in an edition of 50. Artists will be selected through representative images submitted with this application. The DVAC CSA Committee will work with individual artists to approve the final artwork for the edition. Selected artists must commit to creating the edition between notification (February 14) and the deadline of June 1, 2017. Commission payment is 50% at agreement signing and the balance at delivery.

All media are eligible, but selected artists must commit to creating an edition of 50 artworks (photographs, prints or multiples) between selection and the June 1, 2017 deadline. Submissions require 1-5 images, an artist statement, a CV, and a brief (250 characters) description of the project. All artists are eligible to apply; emerging artists (those exhibiting less than 3 years) are particularly encouraged. DVAC seeks work of the highest level of craftsmanship, originality and contemporary style. All work must be structurally sound, safe, non-toxic and fit for its intended use. DVAC will not accept commercially-produced items or structures.

Entry fee is $10 for non-members. Submission is free for current DVAC members. Applicants may become a member ($45/year) through the DVAC website and apply for additional calls for artists all year at no fee. In August, DVAC will host the Harvest Party at which shareholders will receive three original, signed works of art. CSA artwork is created in limited editions for CSA shareholders only and is unavailable elsewhere.
