About This Call
The Durham Arts Council issues an annual call to visual artists to select artists to exhibit in its Allenton and Semans Galleries. Exhibits selected in the current Call for Artists will take place between August 2011 and August 2012. Selected artists will generally receive one entire gallery for a solo exhibition. This call is open to artists outside of North Carolina, but due to funding restrictions, these artists must transport, install and remove their own work if accepted.
The Allenton Gallery is located on the main floor with halogen lighting, 11 foot ceilings, and approximately 42 running feet of hanging space. The Semans Gallery is on the second floor with halogen lighting, 11 foot ceilings, and approximately 78 running feet of hanging space. Only 2-dimensional works that can be hung on the gallery walls will be considered. Ninety percent (90%) of exhibited work must be for sale. The Durham Arts Council will handle artwork sales on behalf of the artist with a 30% commission on any sold works. DAC will insure artwork while at the facility; the artist is responsible for insuring work to and from the show.
Submissions must include an artist statement, resume, and 7 images formatted according to CaFE guidelines. Entry fee is $10.00. Submissions must be received by Friday, February 25th at 12 AM MIDNIGHT MST. Payments must be made through CaFE or by check sent to Durham Arts Council, 120 Morris St, Durham NC 27701 before the jurying process begins. Contact: [email protected]
