About This Call
WMATA's Art in Transit Program is seeking Artists/Artist teams for a site-specific public artwork at the North Entrance of Dupont Circle Metro Station. The selection will follow a two-phase process.
Phase 1 requires submission of qualifications. The Art Selection Panel will select at least three Artists/Artist teams based on evaluation criteria. Selected teams will receive a $2,000 design fee to prepare site-specific artwork proposals in Phase 2. Proposals must include site-specific design, estimated costs for engineering and architectural services, technical and professional services, permits, and fabrication/installation schedules.
The maximum total project budget is $800,000, inclusive of design (artist fee included), construction, installation, public talks, community engagement, and professional photography. The artwork must follow biophilic design principles and address the North Entrance's monumental circular opening and existing conditions. Qualifications must be submitted via CaFÉ before 11:59 PM Mountain Time on December 11, 2024. International artists are eligible. For more information about WMATA's Art in Transit Program, visit https://www.wmata.com/initiatives/art-in-transit/. Submit work samples: minimum 10 images, maximum 20 images; 0-5 videos; total samples 10-20.
