About This Call
The Indiana Dunes Birding Festival, hosted by Indiana Audubon, is an annual event that showcases the abundance of migratory birds in the Indiana Dunes. This exhibition celebrates the natural diversity and exceptional birding opportunities of the region, aiming to inspire visitors and local residents through environmental education and conservation efforts.
Artwork must feature birds of the Midwest Region and/or migrating birds of the Midwest Region. All 2D mediums are accepted, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, printmaking, and photography, as well as sculptural works. Artwork must be created within the past three years, be original in conception and execution, and cannot be AI-generated. Dimensions must not exceed 36" in any direction (including frame), and work cannot exceed 30 lbs. Artists may submit a maximum of two entries for review, but only one work may be admitted. Entry fee is $35 for one artwork or $40 for two artworks. Artists 18 and over are eligible.
Selected works will be displayed at Ancillaerie in downtown Chesterton from May 8 to June 5, 2026. Artwork delivery is Tuesday, May 5th from 10am–6pm. An artist reception will be held Wednesday, May 14th from 6–8pm. Artwork pickup is Saturday, June 6th from 10am–4pm. All submitting artists will be notified of selection decisions by email by Wednesday, April 15, 2026. The exhibition takes a 40% commission on sold works; works can be marked NFS. Artists are responsible for all packing, crating, shipping, mounting, matting, and framing costs. 2D work must be professionally framed with hanging wire.
