About This Call
The "Dune Birds in Art 2025" exhibition will be held at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center (1215 N SR49, Chesterton, IN 46304) from May 14th to June 21st, 2025. Artists 18 and over are eligible to apply.
Artwork must feature a species of bird(s) from the Midwest Region and/or migrating bird(s) of the Midwest Region. Accepted mediums include oil, acrylic, watercolor, printmaking, photography, and sculptural works in various media. Artwork must be created in the past three years and be original in conception and execution. Artwork dimensions must not exceed 36" in any direction (including frame), and no work shall exceed 30 lbs. A maximum of two entries may be submitted for review, but only one work may be admitted. All 2D work must be professionally framed with hanging wire (no sawtooth hangers or plastic frames). Sculptural work must be display-ready or special installation arrangements must be scheduled in advance. For assistance on which bird species are accepted, download the Indiana Bird Checklist or email [email protected].
Artists are responsible for all packing, crating, shipping, and return shipping costs. Mounting, matting, and framing are the artist's responsibility. Artwork delivery is Sunday, May 11th, 2025 from 10am–2pm CT at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center. Alternate drop-off dates must be discussed with the presenter's delegate. Artists agree to allow the Presenter to handle art sales during the exhibit, with the Presenter taking a 20% commission fee. A price list with artist contact information will be available at the front desk. Artwork pick-up is Sunday, June 22nd from 10am-2pm CT. The Presenter is not responsible for artwork not picked up after July 2025. Submit high-quality JPEG image files at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Images should show only the artwork itself without visible matting, frames, or background distractions.
