Dune Birds in Art 2024

Dune Birds in Art 2024 invites artists to submit work featuring birds of the Midwest Region and migrating birds of the Midwest Region. All 2D mediums are accepted, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, printmaking, and photography, as well as sculptural works in various media. Artwork must have been created within the past three years, be original in conception and execution, not exceed 36" in any direction (including frame), and weigh no more than 30 lbs. Artwork may not be created in a workshop or class.

A maximum of two entries may be submitted for review, but only one work may be admitted. The entry fee is $35.00 per submission. All submitting artists will be notified by email of selection decisions before mid-April 2024. Selected works will be displayed at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center (1215 N SR49, Chesterton, IN 46304) during the Indiana Dunes Birding Festival. An artist reception for accepted work will be held on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024 from 6-8pm CT. A 20% commission will be taken on sold works; artists may mark work as NFS (not for sale). Artists are responsible for all packing, crating, shipping, and return shipping costs. All 2D work must be professionally framed with hanging wire (no sawtooth hangers or plastic frames). Sculptural work must be display ready. The juror is Christine Hubbell, an illustrator trained in botanical and scientific illustration. Artists 18 and over are eligible to apply.
