About This Call

Dune Birds in Art 2022 is an exhibition opportunity for artists working with birds of the Midwest Region and migrating birds of the Midwest Region. All 2D mediums are accepted, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, printmaking, and photography, as well as sculptural works in various media. Artists 18 and over are eligible to apply. Entry fee is $35.00 per submission.

Artwork must be created in the past three years and must be original in conception and execution. Artwork may not be created in a workshop or class. Artwork dimensions must not exceed 40" in any direction (including frame), and no work shall exceed 50 lbs. A maximum of two entries may be submitted for review, but only one work may be admitted. A maximum of one digital image per two-dimensional work and one digital image per three-dimensional work may be submitted. 2D works must be professionally framed with wire for hanging—no sawtooth hangers will be accepted. Sculptural work must be display ready.

Work will be on display during the Indiana Dunes Birding Festival at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center located at 1215 N SR49, Chesterton, IN 46304. An artist reception for accepted work will be held on Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 from 6-8pm CT. Voting for the "People's Choice" Award will take place that evening with a small prize awarded. All submitting artists will be notified by email of selection decisions before mid-April 2022. Artists are responsible for all packing, crating, shipping, and return shipping costs. No commission is taken on sold works; artists are responsible for facilitating communication and payment from buyers. Works can be marked NFS (not for sale). The juror is Kristina Knowski, a local fine artist and illustrator specializing in avifauna.
