About This Call
The Duhesa Gallery seeks proposals from Native American artists to exhibit in the Lory Student Center at the heart of the Colorado State University campus. The Duhesa Gallery was created in 1987 to highlight the artistic efforts of Native peoples and has hosted artists including JayCee Beyale, Nani Chacon, Gregg Deal, John Hitchcock, Cannupa Hanska Luger, Brenda Mallory, Jacob Meders, Douglas Miles, Frank Buffalo Hyde, Henry Payer, Rose B. Simpson, Jennifer White, and Melanie Yazzie. The gallery intends to select artist(s) for exhibition in spring 2024, fall 2024, and spring 2025.
Managed by the LSC Arts Program in partnership with CSU's Native American Cultural Center, the Duhesa Gallery is committed to exhibiting contemporary native artwork in an effort to amplify native voices and increase the cultural competency of the Colorado State University campus. Most exhibition opportunities include the opportunity to visit the CSU campus for a reception where the artist gives an informal talk about their work, influences, and experiences. An honorarium is provided for the exhibition and travel and shipping stipends are available.
Artists must submit a minimum of 15 images of their work to a maximum of 20, up to 3 audio files and up to 3 video files if relevant, an artist statement, artist bio, artist resume, and documentation of tribal citizenship. The Duhesa Gallery exclusively exhibits the artworks of Native American artists.
