Dreams

DISTRICT Arts, a contemporary art gallery located in downtown Frederick, MD, presents "Dreams," an independently juried themed exhibition showcasing the translation of dreams into tangible works of art. The exhibition seeks work that explores the ethereal nature of dreams, pushing the boundaries of imagination and reality—whether whimsical, surreal, emotionally deep, or navigating the intersection between dream and reality. The exhibition will present the work of 25 artists.

Artists may submit up to 3 original works created since 2021 for jurying. Entry fees are $25 for one submission, $30 for two submissions, and $35 for three submissions. Only the highest-scoring work of accepted artists will be included in the exhibition. Awards include Best in Show ($500), Award of Merit ($250), and Honorable Mention ($100). The juror is Rhonda J. Smith, an artist and former painting and printmaking instructor at Shepherd University.

Work Requirements: 2D works may not exceed 60 inches in width or height including frame and must be ready to hang with wire. 3D works must fit a 12" square or 12" x 28" pedestal or be freestanding. All work must be visibly signed and priced for sale. No reproductions are permitted; photography and digital art must be limited to no more than 150 editions and signed and numbered. Works previously exhibited in a juried or featured artist show at DISTRICT Arts are not eligible. Submissions must be made online with one JPEG image per piece (approximately 1900 pixels on the longest side, maximum 5 MB file size). The exhibition runs April 3-28, 2024, with an opening reception on April 6 at 5 p.m. and awards announced at 6 p.m. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by email on March 11, 2024. This exhibition is open to residents of the United States only.
