About This Call
Arts Longmont invites 2-D artists in Colorado whose figurative work in painting or drawing to submit to the inaugural Drawn to the Figure exhibition. The organization is encouraging artists whose figurative work presents a new, fresh approach to the human figure that breaks away from established traditions and clichés, offers insights into aesthetics and meaning, social commentary, and sheer beauty. Approximately 25 works will be selected for inclusion in the exhibition.
The exhibition runs from January 12 to February 24, 2018, with an opening reception on January 12, 2018 from 6-9 PM. Arts Longmont is located in Longmont's Creative District and presents work by local artists with a dedicated space for juried exhibitions. Only submitted work can be presented in the show if selected.
Entry fee is $35.00. Applicants must submit 1-6 images of their work. Eligibility is limited to local artists in Colorado. The juror is Zoey Frank, a painter who completed classical atelier training at Gage Academy of Art in Seattle and received an MFA in painting from Laguna College of Art and Design. Frank has received numerous honors including three Elizabeth Greenshields grants, the Avigdor Arikha Memorial International Residency Scholarship, and the Artist's Magazine All Media Competition Grand Prize of 2012.
