About This Call
Artists are invited to submit artworks for DRAWN, a juried exhibition at George A. Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin, Missouri. Approximately 30 works will be selected for exhibition in Spiva's Main Gallery. Part invitational, part call for entry, DRAWN is exclusively a drawing show to celebrate experimentation while reminding viewers of the basic nature and value of the drawing process.
Artists may submit works in any media relevant to the practice (including non-traditional approaches), in any style or genre (fine art, illustration, design, conceptual, realistic, etc.). Works must be original, have never been exhibited at Spiva, and must qualify as drawing. Large work is encouraged. Please refrain from graphic nudity and violence, as approximately 1600 third graders will be viewing this exhibit as part of their first gallery experience.
Entry fee is $40 for up to five entries; $10 per each additional entry. Entries must include 5-10 images. Cash prizes: $500 for 1st Place, $300 for 2nd Place, $200 for 3rd Place. Judging by a local, non-biased judge TBD. Entry period: September 1 - November 11. Accepted artists will be notified by email on November 21. Accepted entries are due to Spiva by January 5 at 5pm. Opening reception and announcement of winners: January 11, 5:30-7:30pm. Exhibition runs through March 9. If your work is chosen, you are responsible for shipping and insurance to and from Spiva. Work may be hand-delivered. All accepted work must arrive ready to install. If shipping, do not use glass. Spiva does not provide framing, hanging wire, clips, magnets, or other hanging materials. Works not claimed within 30 days of the end of the exhibit will become property of Spiva.
