About This Call
"Drawing the Line" National Juried Exhibition explores and expands what constitutes drawing and 'line' in any media. This national juried exhibition is open to artists 18 years or older. Original works accepted include traditional drawing media (pencil, charcoal, chalks, ink, etc.) in any subject from traditional to modern, as well as other media including computer art, painting, photography, printmaking, fiber arts, and small-scale sculpture or wall assemblage that emphasizes visual, outline, or linear elements. All work must be executed during the past three years and never previously exhibited at Dallas Metro Arts Contemporary.
Entry fee is $30 for a minimum of 2 works, with a $5 fee for each additional work up to a maximum of 5 entries. Submissions are accepted only through CaFÉ. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 48 inches in width or 72 inches in height and cannot exceed 75 lbs. Three-dimensional work must fit within a 24x30 inch floor or pedestal space, be no more than 72 inches in height, and not exceed 75 lbs. All two-dimensional work must be framed and ready for installation with hanging hardware already installed. No installations or video are accepted; diptychs or triptychs are at the discretion of the juror and director.
The exhibition runs September 1-26, 2020, at Dallas Metro Arts Contemporary, 1412 14th St, Plano, TX 75074. The closing reception and awards ceremony is Saturday, September 26, 6:00-8:00pm. Prizes include First Prize of $1,000, Director's Choice Award, and Visitor's Choice Award. The juror is Beth Welch, Exhibitions Curator for the Louisiana Arts and Science Museum. Accepted works must be delivered by August 30, 2020. Shipped artwork must include return postage/shipping label for FedEx or UPS unless alternative arrangements are made with the director.
