About This Call
Drawing In All Mediums is an online juried exhibition running July 27 – August 26, 2022. Drawing is often thought to be a modest or preparatory art form, but with its rich history—from its relationship with calligraphy and writing to its gestural and abstract potentials—it holds a central place in art history. While drawing's relationship with painting is well known, its relationship with other mediums is less explored. This exhibition invites artists to reconceptualize the divisions between materials and mediums of drawing, exploring both traditional and novel approaches.
The exhibition is juried by Ashton Cooper, a writer, curator, and Ph.D. candidate in Art History at the University of Southern California. She has organized exhibitions at the Leslie-Lohman Museum Project Space, Maccarone, Jack Hanley Gallery, Nicelle Beauchene Gallery, Larrie, and the Knockdown Center in New York, and Cooper Cole in Toronto. Her writing has appeared in Artforum, ArtReview, Mousse, and Contemporary Art Review LA.
Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 years of age or older. Only original works may be submitted. Entry fee is $26.00 for up to three images, plus $10 for each additional image (3–6 images total required; up to 3 videos also accepted). All artwork must be priced for sale and remain available throughout the exhibition. Artists retain 60% commission on all sales. Submission deadline: June 20, 2022 at 11:59 PM MT. Notification: June 29, 2022. Contact: [email protected]
