Dragon on the Lake Festival 2026

The Orion Art Center proudly presents the 17th Annual Dragon on the Lake Festival (DOTL), held annually on the last weekend in August in Downtown Lake Orion. The festival celebrates the legend of the Lake Orion Dragon, dating back to sightings in the mid-1800s. DOTL serves as the nonprofit Orion Art Center's largest fundraiser, supporting the organization's mission to nurture artistic spirit through classes, camps, scholarships, exhibits, and special events.

The festival brings together dozens of organizations, hundreds of volunteers, and thousands of participants. Activities include a Lighted Boat Parade, Dragon Boat Races on Lake Orion, Artist Market, Little Dragon Den, Chalk Art Contest, Tiki Tent, Dragon Pub, live music, and entertainment. The DOTL Art + Craft Fair and Vendor Marketplace features 100 juried booth spaces available in three categories: Art + Craft Fair (original handmade work only), Vendor Marketplace (non-art booths), and Non-profit Organizations. Only original work created by the displaying artist is eligible; items must be at least 60% made by the vendor. Load-in is Friday, August 28 at 5:00 PM or Saturday, August 29 at 7:00 AM. The show runs Saturday, August 29 from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday, August 30 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with load-out at 6:00 PM on Sunday.

Application fee is $25 (non-refundable). Booth fee is $225 if paid by April 1, 2026, or $250 after April 1, 2026, with all fees due by August 10, 2026. Applicants must submit 4 images, including a booth shot. Jury notification will be provided no later than 30 days before the event. No refunds will be issued after full payment and application are received and processed.
