About This Call
The City of Lee's Summit Cultural Arts Division is accepting applications for the 2022 Downtown Sculpture Walk temporary sculpture exhibit. Up to ten (10) artists will be selected to install 3D sculptural works appropriate for long-term outdoor display. Sculptures must be available for exhibition from May 2022 through at least April 30, 2023, with installation tentatively planned between May 1-20, 2022.
Artists may submit up to two (2) existing, completed sculptures for consideration. Each submission requires up to three images from different perspectives showing the base, a written description including title, medium, dimensions, weight, date of construction, sale price, and detailed installation method. Artwork must be of professional quality, original work, and complete at time of application. Any variety of materials may be used, but artwork must require no maintenance throughout the exhibition and be suitable for long-term outdoor display in Missouri's climate conditions. Artwork must be safe, sturdy, and able to be securely bolted to concrete pads or sit safely on the ground.
Selected artists will receive a $1,000 stipend to offset costs associated with installation, travel, and per diem, payable after completion and sign-off on installation. Artists retain 100% of sales for any artwork sold during the exhibition. Artist information will be listed on the exhibition website and publications. A plaque will be installed with each sculpture including the title, artist's name, website, and sale price. The artist retains copyright for the work. Selection results will be notified by February 15, 2022. The Downtown Sculpture Walk is open to professional sculptural artists at least 18 years of age who own the rights to all submitted works.
