About This Call
The City of Lee's Summit Cultural Arts Division is accepting applications for the 2021 Downtown Sculpture Walk temporary sculpture exhibit. Up to ten artists will be selected to install 3D sculptural works appropriate for long-term outdoor display. The exhibit will run from April 2021 through March 2022, with installation tentatively scheduled for April 5-16, 2021 and de-installation the last week of March 2022. Selected artwork may be installed in designated locations in Downtown Lee's Summit on concrete pads or grassy areas, with final placement determined by the jury selection committee.
Eligibility: Open to professional local and national artists over 18 years of age. Artists must own rights to all works submitted and submit original, completed work only (no proposals or design renditions). Artwork must be available for the full exhibition period and require no maintenance. Sculptures must be of professional quality, safe design, and able to withstand outdoor conditions including high wind, freezing rain, snow, and temperature fluctuations. Artwork can be bolted to concrete pads or sit safely on the ground.
Entry Requirements: Artists may submit up to two completed sculptures, with each requiring a separate application. Submit up to three images per sculpture from different perspectives showing the base. Include a description with title, medium, dimensions, weight, date of construction, sale price, and installation method. Selected artists will receive a $1,000 stipend to offset installation, travel, and per diem costs, payable after installation completion. Artists receive 100% of sales for any artwork sold during the exhibition. All artwork must be for sale and remain on display throughout the program year, including any sold pieces. Artist information will be listed on the exhibition website and in publications.
