About This Call
The City of Orlando is seeking proposals from local Central Florida artists for a large-scale mural in an urban pocket park. The park will feature areas for food trucks, green space for community activities, and a downtown gateway feature. The commissioned mural will celebrate Orlando's iconic downtown cityscape and commemorate the City of Orlando's 150th anniversary.
The mural budget is up to $50,000, which includes all costs related to materials, equipment, and artist fees. The design should be a 2D mural reflecting the downtown cityscape and Orlando's 150th birthday. The mural can be fluid in style and does not need to completely cover the wall. The installation site is located at 274 N. Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801, with mural wall dimensions of 28 feet tall by 55 feet wide.
Submissions must include concept images of the proposed mural along with examples of previous large-scale mural projects. This opportunity is open to local artists experienced in designing and implementing large-scale public art projects with a proven track record of completing similar projects on time and within budget. Artists must live or work in Central Florida. Applicants should submit a minimum of 3 and maximum of 10 images, with an optional 0-6 videos.
