Downtown Ocala Selfie Wall Mural

The City of Ocala Cultural Arts Office is requesting proposals for a selfie wall mural to be located on the south-facing interior wall of the Brick City Center for the Arts courtyard at 23 SW Broadway St, Ocala, FL. The mural will measure 18 feet long by 10 feet high on a stucco surface. The concept must include the possibility for several people to be photographed at once and must be unique to this project.

The selected artist or team will receive a $5,000 honorarium to cover transportation, lodging, wall preparation, installation, final clear coating, materials, labor, and all other costs associated with artwork installation through completion. Payment will be made half as a deposit upon contract execution and half after completion and final approval by the City. This call is open to artists currently working or residing in the Ocala/Marion County area with experience in mural work.

Proposals must include a draft rendering in jpg format (minimum 180ppi), a written description of the concept, material specifications, design dimensions, at least one image of a past mural project, and contact information. Materials must withstand high traffic, public environment conditions, and adverse Florida weather including high UV exposure, humidity, heavy rain, and frequent thunderstorms. Materials must also be capable of withstanding washing and maintenance for graffiti removal. Deadline for submission is March 27, 2020. Notification of acceptance or decline will occur the week of April 13, 2020, with work anticipated to begin the last week of June 2020. The selected artist must contract with the City of Ocala and sign a hold harmless agreement adding the city to a general liability insurance policy for the duration of the project.
