Downtown Kokomo Banners

The City of Kokomo and Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance are seeking artists' artwork for a series of large-scale vertical banners to be displayed on two sides of a new parking garage in downtown Kokomo, Indiana. Artwork may portray Kokomo's vibrant community, depicting what it's like to live in, work in, visit or experience Kokomo, or depict Kokomo's rich automotive, industrial and innovative heritage. Artwork should be colorful and be a visually appealing and positive representation of Kokomo, while welcoming residents and visitors to downtown.

Selected artists will each be asked to create a series of up to seven art images that will be printed on banners for display. The banner series may be rotated annually or more frequently. Artists may receive input from the local committee regarding the images in the banner series. Banners will be produced out of 9 oz. mesh banner material in full color and in a vertical format, with dimensions ranging from 20 feet tall by 10 feet wide to 22 feet tall by 10 feet wide. Accepted mediums include graphic design, photography or artwork which can be photographed and displayed visually in a vertical format.

Entrants must be at least 18 years of age. Applicants will submit one image to enter, with the option to submit up to four different entries. Selected applicants will need to submit high-resolution images for printing. The first lower resolution image submitted to the Call For Entry website must be JPG (or JPEG) format only and under 5MB in size. High resolution images for printing must be in AI, EPS, PDF, JPG or PNG format only, with at least 300 dpi resolution. Selection of artists will take place via a panel selection process within 7-10 days after the August 28, 2020 deadline, and artists will be notified shortly after. Selected artists will have up to six weeks to complete their banner series. High resolution images must be submitted to the City of Kokomo upon request or no later than November 1, 2020 for printing. Submissions will be judged by a panel considering use of colors, aesthetic impact, appropriateness for public display, and legibility for drive-by viewers and pedestrians. There is no cost to enter.
