Downtown Grand Junction Art on the Corner 2022 Temporary Exhibit

Downtown Grand Junction Art on the Corner is a temporary public art exhibition seeking sculpture submissions. Artists may apply up to 3 times, with each application featuring one sculpture. Submissions must include a minimum of three and maximum of five photographs taken from different angles, along with sculpture information including title, material, dimensions, weight, special installation requirements, value, selling price, and an artist's statement.

Artwork selection criteria prioritize artistic excellence, timelessness, permanence, compatibility with the Downtown Grand Junction area, and public safety. All sculptures must be original creations, structurally sound, resistant to theft and vandalism, and require minimal maintenance. Accepted artists must deliver their work and be present for installation on Saturday, October 8th, 2022 at 7:00 a.m. The artwork will be on display for twelve months. Artists are responsible for all design, labor, materials, transportation, and removal expenses. All artwork must be available for sale; Art on the Corner retains a 25% commission on sales during the exhibit period or as a direct result of the exhibit.

Accepted artists receive a $1,000 honorarium and two nights of lodging for October 7th-8th, 2022. An Artist's Welcome Reception will be held on Friday, October 7th. Awards will be presented on Saturday, October 7th afternoon, with payments issued 2-3 weeks after installation. A People's Choice Award will be open for voting beginning two weeks before installation and continuing for two weeks after. Eligibility requires artists to live within reasonable driving distance of Grand Junction, Colorado; only 3D mediums are accepted. The application deadline is August 5, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified of selection the week of August 22nd. The 2022 exhibit will be curated by Kyle Ocean, a sculpture and mixed media artist from Fort Collins, Colorado.
