About This Call
Downtown Grand Junction Art on the Corner is a temporary public art exhibition featuring sculpture. Artists must submit 3-6 images of original sculptures for consideration. The exhibition will be on display for twelve months from the installation date of October 5, 2019.
Artwork selection is based on artistic excellence, timelessness, permanence, compatibility with the downtown area, and public safety. All sculptures must be mounted and ready for display according to specific mounting requirements. Sculptures less than six feet tall must be mounted to steel pedestals provided by the organization, while free-standing sculptures six feet or taller must be bolted to the sidewalk. The artist is responsible for all design, labor, materials, transportation, and removal costs.
Accepted artists will receive a $1,000 honorarium and two nights of lodging for October 4-5, 2019. An Artist's Welcome Reception will be held on the evening of October 4th. All artwork must be available for sale to the public, and the organization will retain a 25% commission on any sales during or resulting from the exhibit. The artist or representative must be present for installation on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 7:00 a.m. Removal assistance will be available on October 3, 2020. Accepted artists must sign an Exhibit Contract. For specific installation questions, contact Tina at [email protected].
