Downtown Austin Gallery | Open Call

Dama Gallery, located in the East Sixth neighborhood of Downtown Austin, opened their Texas location in 2021. The gallery is positioned in a vibrant district that hosts the prestigious SXSW Festival and is surrounded by honky-tonks, dive bars, and iconic music venues. Dama Gallery's exhibitions and publications contribute to Austin's burgeoning arts scene.

This open call accepts painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media, and new genres. Submissions must include 3-20 images, a biography, and an artist statement. All artwork must be original, unsold, and the artist must own the sole copyright. Frames, mats, and wiring must be professional quality and in good condition. 2D artwork selected for exhibition must be ready to hang. Entry fee is $35 for 3 images, with an additional $5 per image up to a maximum of 20 images. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance.

Exhibition lengths vary from 1 to 3 months, with the number of pieces depending on the artist's medium and work sizes. Featured artists are invited to attend receptions and may be invited for recorded artist interviews or panel discussions. Artists selected for exhibition will be considered for representation by Dama Gallery, which includes priority consideration for future exhibitions, professional consultation, portfolio assistance, and marketing support. The gallery partners with ARTSY for online sales and retains a 50% commission on sales. Sales remittance to artists occurs 5-7 business days post-exhibition or upon buyer payment finalization. Entries submitted by 3/31/2024 are considered for exhibition in Downtown Austin, Texas. Notifications are sent throughout the month at the curator's discretion.
