About This Call
The Downeast National Juried Sculpture Exhibition is open to all artists ages 18 and up working in three-dimensional media. Artists may submit up to 3 entries for $15, with additional entries available at $5 each up to a maximum of 6 total entries. Submissions must include 3-6 digital images in jpg format. Checks should be payable to "Emerge Gallery." The gallery will retain a 40% commission (30% for ECU students). If work is not for sale, an insurance value must be provided and marked NFS or work will not be insured.
The exhibition includes both indoor and outdoor components. Indoor submissions must fit through a standard-sized door and be ready for display. Accepted indoor work must be dropped off or received between February 27-29, 2020 (10am-2pm on Feb 27-28, 10am-12pm on Feb 29) at Emerge Gallery, 404 S. Evans Street, Greenville, NC 27858. Shipped work must arrive by February 26, 2020 with a prepaid return mailing label. Pickup is March 27-28, 2020 (10am-8pm on March 27, 10am-2pm on March 28). Emerge Gallery will provide insurance for accepted indoor work from drop-off through the last day of exhibition for 60% of the sales price. Indoor prizes: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $250, 3rd Place $100.
Outdoor work should be large-scale to fit one of ten sculpture pads ranging from 4'x5' to 10' in diameter. Artists must install and uninstall their own work with possible assistance from the presenting entity. Work must remain on exhibit from the end of February 2020 through the end of February 2021 and utilize exterior-grade materials. Outdoor prizes include 10 honorariums of $1,000 each, plus 1st Place $1,500, 2nd Place $750, and 3rd Place $500. Work will be insured by presenting entities for 60% of the sales price for exhibition dates only. Liability insurance is required for the City of Greenville location. The juror is Glenn Zweygardt, an emeritus Professor of Sculpture at Alfred University.
