About This Call
The DownEast National Juried Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition is a year-long outdoor exhibition located in Pitt County, North Carolina, presented jointly by Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge, ECU Student Center Art Galleries, City of Greenville, Town of Winterville, Town of Farmville, Wahl-Coates Elementary School for the Arts, and the Greenville Museum of Art. The exhibition features 18 sculpture pads in various locations throughout Pitt County, ranging from 4'x5' to 10' round in diameter.
This exhibition is open to all artists ages 18 and up. Work must be large scale, able to be exhibited outdoors for one year, and utilize exterior grade materials. Artists must be available to install and remove their own work, though some assistance from the exhibiting entity may be offered but is not guaranteed. All work must remain on exhibit from the end of February 2022 through the end of February 2023, with the opening on Friday, March 4, 2022. Each artist may submit up to 3 entries for $20, with additional entries at $5 each (limit 6 total). Entries must be submitted digitally by Saturday, November 20, 2021, as jpg images. Videos are accepted but count as an entry.
Emerge Gallery will retain a 40% commission (30% for East Carolina University students). Work will be insured by the presenting entities for 60% of the sales price for exhibition dates only. If work is not for sale, an insurance value must be provided and marked NFS or work will not be insured. Prizes include $1,200 for each sculpture placement, plus 1st Place: $1,500, 2nd Place: $750, and 3rd Place: $500. The juror is James Matson, a sculptor and set designer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
