Down On Paper

Vestige Concept Gallery seeks to pay homage to paper by hosting an exhibit comprised entirely of works on paper or made of paper. Works could include graphite, pen, ink, charcoal, pastels, printmaking, paper craft (3D or 2D), collage, colored pencil, gouache, watercolor, word art, and book art. Mixed media and techniques combining these materials are welcome. Materials should be primarily organic in nature. Photography, digital photography, and digitally altered prints are not accepted, though photography and digital elements are acceptable if included as parts of a larger collage or mixed media piece. Any prints must be original and editioned (except monoprinting), with edition number and total edition amount included in the description. The gallery accepts works from emerging, mid-career, and professional artists. Work should relate to the theme of the show, ideally emphasizing a relationship between artist, media, and the surface.

The exhibition is open to artists over age 18 in the United States and Canada. Work should ideally have been created in the last three years and must be original artwork ready to display. The specific work must not have been previously displayed in a Vestige Concept Gallery exhibit. Work must be for sale. No Giclees or reproductions of original works are accepted. Applicants may submit up to nine entries. Two entries are included in the $27 application fee, with an additional $5 per entry for submissions over two. The application deadline is February 4, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artists will be notified of acceptance on or before February 5, 2023. Shipped works must arrive no later than February 16, 2023. The opening reception will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 6 PM. The exhibition runs February 18 - March 19, 2023. Vestige Concept Gallery will retain a 30% commission for any artwork sold. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from the gallery and must include a prepaid return shipping label. 2D work must not exceed 30 pounds including frame. Wall pieces must be securely wired, framed, and properly prepared for display.
