Dovetail: Envisionings

Dovetail: Envisionings is a collaborative exhibition at Intersect Arts Center. The dovetail joint—an ancient carpentry technique—serves as a metaphor for exploring the work of collaborative makers. This exhibition seeks collaborative work created by more than one person working together, including collaborations with professionals outside the arts, children, and communities.

All 2-D, 3-D, video, installation, written, and performative work (music, dance, theater, etc.) will be considered. Submissions should include a written artist statement that specifically addresses the submitted pieces and collaborative process. Work samples may include up to 20 images, 6 audio files, and 6 video files (minimum 1 total sample required). The entry fee is $30.

The exhibition runs September 18–November 12, 2021. Artwork must be received by September 10th. Intersect Arts Center will cover return shipping costs up to $100 per artist. Artwork must not hang from the ceiling; 2-D art must be ready to hang with no saw-tooth hangers. Artwork drop-off is September 9-10 during business hours (9 a.m.–4 p.m.). Notification of acceptance will be sent July 19th. The opening is September 18, 2021.
