Douglas County Art Encounters 2025-2026

Art Encounters is a year-long outdoor sculpture exhibit showcasing sculptures in various media and styles displayed in highly visible areas throughout Douglas County, including Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree Library, Parker, and Roxborough. The program is designed to promote public interest in art, develop community pride, and draw visitors to retail and civic areas.

Artists may submit 1-5 existing, fully completed outdoor sculptural works (up to 3 unique views of each work). All work must be for sale and available for installation no later than May 23, 2025, with uninstallation no later than May 31, 2026. Selected artists receive a $1,200 stipend payable after installation completion. Artists have the opportunity for their artwork to be purchased; 24 sculptures have been purchased since the program began in 2007.

Eligibility: Open to artists and artist teams over 18 years of age. Work must be original in concept, complete and already in existence, and able to withstand Colorado's intense sun, snow, wind, temperature extremes, and weather fluctuations with minimal to no maintenance. All work must be safe for public interaction of all ages. Replicas must include edition, conventional description, and serial number. Duplicate works within a 60-mile radius of Douglas County will not be accepted. Work accepted into Art Encounters may not be submitted to another program within a 60-mile radius of Douglas County during the same program year. Submit 1-10 images (minimum 1, maximum 10).
