Douglas County Art Encounters 2024-2025

Art Encounters is a year-long outdoor sculpture exhibit showcasing sculptures in various media and styles displayed in highly visible areas throughout Douglas County, including Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree Library, Parker, and Roxborough. The program is designed to promote public interest in art, develop community pride, and draw visitors to retail and civic areas.

Artists may submit 1-5 existing, fully completed outdoor sculptural works (up to 3 unique views of each work). All work must be for sale and available for installation no later than May 24, 2024, with uninstallation no later than May 31, 2025. Selected artists receive a $1,000 stipend payable after installation completion. Additional opportunities include two $1,000 awards: People's Choice Award and Kid's Choice Award. Artists have the opportunity for their artwork to be purchased; twenty-two sculptures have been purchased since the program began in 2007.

Eligibility: Open to artists and artist teams over 18 years of age. All work must be complete, original in concept, and able to withstand intense sun, snow, wind, temperature extremes, and weather fluctuations common in Colorado. Work must require minimal to no maintenance and be safe for public interaction of all ages. Duplicate works within a 60-mile radius of Douglas County will not be accepted. Work sample requirements: submit 3-15 images total.
