Douglas County Art Encounters 2014-2015

Douglas County Art Encounters is a public art program featuring sculptures displayed throughout Douglas County, Colorado in Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, and Parker. A Public Art Advisory Committee with representatives from throughout Douglas County selects artwork from applications submitted for the program. The Committee functions under the direction of the Douglas County Cultural Council.

Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend, payable after completion of installation. A $1,000 People's Choice honorarium will be awarded to one artist in May 2015. Selected public art is strategically placed in high-traffic areas in the community for maximum exposure. The Art Encounters exhibit features both traditional and cutting-edge sculptures.

Artists must submit two images per sculpture with completed fields including dimensions, medium, and year completed. Each submission must include a description of the sculpture, installation requirements and equipment needs, maintenance requirements, whether a base is included, and suggested dimensions for installation. Submissions are limited to 1-3 images total. The entry deadline is February 14, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Following selection in mid-late February, artists will receive notification and a contract. Installation is scheduled for May/June 2014, coordinated between each jurisdiction and the artist.
